The information on this page is expanded upon on the website.
Warburton is a locative name deriving from the hamlet of Warburton in Cheshire.
The hamlet of Warburton was named after a Saxon princess and saint. The earliest known person the adopt the name lived in the 13th century. He was in turn descended from a follower of William the Conqueror.
There are roughly 10,000 Warburtons in the UK today, most frequently in Lancashire, Cheshire, and Yorkshire.
Warburtons can be found in Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the USA.
My objective is to make all my data available on the website in an easily downloadable form.
The study incorporates a Y-chromosome DNA project hosted at Family Tree DNA. To join the project go to: http://www.familytreedna.com/group-join.aspx?Group=Warburton
Results are reported on the Warburton project web page at: www.familytreedna.com/public/warburton.
They are also reported with additional commentary and on the Warburton Website at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~warburton/
