About the Overall One-Name Study

The Overall Family Register is intended to be seen as an Information Exchange for people worldwide who are researching the surname. Currently the databases consist primarily of information about people in England and Wales but details of many who emigrated to other countries are increasing steadily.

The surname was registered with The Guild of One-Name Studies in 1998.

Information from the databases is only distributed to enquirers who prove a bona fide descent from an Overall or a variant.

All of the relevant entries from The General Register Office Indexes of Births, Marriages and Deaths in England and Wales from 1837.

All of the relevant entries from the National Censuses of England and Wales 1841 to 1901. The 1911 census is being processed.

Numerous extractions from Parish Church Register entries for Banns, Baptisms, Marriages and Burials.

Probate Index entries from 1858 to about 1940.

All of the above have made it possible to reconstruct many Families and related Groups of families.
