My name is Adrienne Kiellor-Edwards and I have been researching family history since 1976.
At that time I was pregnant with the first of a new generation of Kiellors. A family visit brought out a beautiful old photograph album showing Kiellors and cousins back into the 1800s. This was followed by the Kiellor Papers - a collection of certificates from across the years. Goodness knows where these things are now - I hope they're still in the family somewhere. Anyway, this sparked an interest in chasing down the Kiellor line, from it's roots in Perthshire to a scattering all across the globe today.
It soon became apparent that the Kiellor name doesn't stay constant throughout the ages. So a search for Kiellors soon became a search for Keillors, Keillars, Kiellars and Keillers too. This ultimately turned into a one-name-study. With the collaboration of my cousin Pat Stedman in Australia, our friend Jennifer Romero in Scotland and numerous friends across the world, we now hold an enormous wealth of information regarding the 'K' families which we are only too happy to swop and share.
First main rule - never pass on information about living people!
Second main rule - be accurate!
Third main rule - have fun doing it!
The spelling Keiller is more common in the UK while the Keillor spelling is found more in the US. The Kiellor, Kiellar and Keillar spellings are quite unusual. Many variants have appeared over the years - EI and IE, one L or two, AR/ER/OR.
Most Keill*r families can be traced back to either the Perthshire/Angus area or to Yorkshire.
