About the Grubb One-Name Study

The Grubb one-name study is carried out under the auspices of the Grubb Family Association which was originally formed in the United States at the beginning of the last century but lapsed during the first World war. It was revived at the second Grubb family reunion held at the Cavendish Hotel, Jermyn Street, London on Saturday 9th February 1974 which was attended by 79 family members. Upon a motion by Cyril Grubb, seconded by Ronald Gaston-Grubb, it was unanimously carried that the Grubb Family Association should be re-formed and that Sir Kenneth Grubb, KCMG (for 25 years, president of the Church Missionary Society) should be its first President, a post which he held until his death in 1980.

Its first Secretary was the Revd. Geoffrey Watkins-Grubb, author of 'The Grubbs of Tipperary', and upon his death he was succeeded by his son, David Watkins-Grubb, author and poet.

Today, the Association has 100 members world-wide and assist new members with their research on the basis that they will allow their search results to form part of the ever-growing archives that the Association has compiled for some years.
