The Fosker study started back in the mid 1980s when I was trying to unravel my maternal great, great Grandmother Phoebe FOSKUEs family.
This coon progressed to a one-name study and I joined the Guild back in 1994.
The main variants of the name are FOSCUE, FOSKUE, FOSQUE and FOSKEW.
During WW1 some families changed their name to Foster and these are traced where known.
Strangely none of the major surname reference books mention the name FOSKER and the only variant mentioned is FOSKEW which is linked to the name Fortescuw. However the FOSKEWs in the study certainly have no links to Fortescue
A FOSKER DNA project has been set up with Family Tree DNA.
Males bearing the name FOSKER, and the derivatives, are invited to join the project by donating a sample of their DNA.
Details of the project can be found at FOSKER DNA Project.
There are some old details on the FOSKER website but a new set of data in a new format is being prepared. If you have any comments, alterations or additions please contact me
